Spring

Living in a somewhat northerly area, a great deal of time is spent in anticipation; waiting for the time when the weather warms, the birds return with their song, the leaves and flowers burst forth with new color, and we can escape the indoor prison we have endured for the previous 5 months.  SPRING!  Oh, glorious spring, when life returns and everything becomes new once again.

The day I sit here writing this is, where I am, the first real springy feeling day.  The sun feels warm and there is no need to bundle up in 5 layers of clothing.  I know it is perspective as those in Florida or the SW might consider today as cold, only getting into the low 60s, but after having been months below freezing, much of that time below zero, and buried under feet of snow, it feels mah-ve-lous.

As we head through the month of April, We will see this glorious transformation of life renewed.  We who have endured the long winter are renewed as well;  our spirits lifted and comforted by the relaxing sounds and warming temperatures.  Our joy is restored as the cabin fever is melted away with the ice and snow that had us locked in.

Spring metaphorically also represents new life as well.  While physically, nature is reborn, it reminds us that our spiritual life must be reborn.  For our spirits to be reborn and survive the cold dead winter, we must let the warmth of the son Jesus into our lives and believing in him, we become renewed and burst forth with new life and beautiful colors.
